STORY BY CAROL NYOIKE - JOURNALISM STUDENT
Every year on May 1st, the world pauses to celebrate Labor Day a tribute to the hands that build our cities, feed our communities, and power the engines of progress. It’s more than just a day off; it’s a moment to reflect on the dignity of work and the people who make it all happen.
From the early struggles of workers demanding fair hours and humane conditions, Labor Day emerged as a powerful reminder that progress is built on the shoulders of perseverance. It honors the silent strength of everyday heroes farmers, factory workers, nurses, drivers, teachers whose efforts often go unnoticed but are vital to society’s heartbeat.
This day is a call to gratitude but also to action. As we enjoy a well
Deserved break, let’s remember that fair wages, safe workplaces, and respect for all labor are rights still being fought for in many parts of the world. It’s a time to support justice, to uplift one another, and to value every contribution, no matter how small it may seem.
So today, let us not only rest but also rise in appreciation, in solidarity, and with a renewed sense of purpose. Because when we honor work, we honor humanity. HAPPY LABOUR DAY
