Welcome to Artisan training program, Electrical Installation Course.

Artisan training program, Electrical Installation, is a course designed for form four and primary eight school leavers.

This course emphasis on developing practical skills that will enable the graduate to carry out domestic installation and repair basic domestic appliances correctly and safely. He / she will also be able to carry out wiring of light industrial installations.

In addition to practical skills, related subjects which include Mathematics, Science, Applied Geometry, general Studies and Electrical Trade Theory are also incorporated to provide the student with additional cognitive and effective skills so that he / she has a better understanding of his / her work and his role in society.

With this kind of content and treatment, it is expected that the student should be able to achieve a level of competency and confidence to enable him go out in the world of work and i=undertake electrical installation work on his own as self – employed or as a salaried electrician. He / she should be able to advance himself / herself, professionally in the electrical trade through further training.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

a) Carry out the installation, maintenance and repair of domestic installation and appliances

b) Carry out basic wiring in industrial installation

c) Read and interpret drawing and wiring diagrams

d) Display skills, knowledge and attitudes that would enable him /her be self – employed or employable or proceed with further training

e) Develop appropriate safety awareness required in electrically installation work

f) Acquire basic scientific and mathematical skills to enable the trainee solve simple trade problems.

Welcome to Craft Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Technology

The Craft Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Technology, power option course is designed for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (or its equivalent qualifications), to provide trainees with skills, knowledge and attitudes for the installation, operation, service and maintenance of electrical installation systems and basic electronic equipment.

The course is in modular form and it is designed to enable trainees acquire adequate competence for formal and informal employment and also to prepare them for further training.

The course is in two modules. Each module prepares the trainee to perform specific tasks whose total value combined will impart the desired competence to the trainees, to produce the required graduate at the end of the course.

The course puts emphasis on practical work and competence acquisition. Thus the trainee is required to spend 20% of the total hours on theory and 80% on practical lessons.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

By the end of the course, the trainee should be able to:

a) Demonstrate positive attitudes towards self employment

b) Communicate effectively in matters of electrical engineering

c) Observe environmental, health and safety regulations and requirements and codes of practice and standards when working.

d) Test and maintain electrical systems to the specified professional standards

e) Use scientific and mathematical concepts to solve electrical problems

f) Appreciate the role of management in the electrical trade.




Welcome to Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Power Option, is a course designed for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education graduates (or equivalent qualifications), to provide trainees with skills, knowledge and attitudes that will enable them perform and manage tasks in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and related fields or progress in further training.

The course is in three modules and is competency based, designed with multiple skills to enhance trainees’ adaptability in the formal and the informal employment. Each module prepares the trainee to perform specific tasks and jobs whose total value combined will impart the desired competence, which will produce the required graduate at the end of the course.

The course puts emphasis on practical work and competence acquisition, thus, the trainee is required to spend adequate time on practical lessons.

The graduate of the course will be able to design, install, test and maintain electrical systems to the specified professional standards
